Kevin Tong - 'Unfamiliar Objects'

The series  is about creating visual metaphors for aspects of the world at large through modest objects that are old and largely out of use.

At the start there was an immediate need to visually communicate these abstract ideas in a way that was direct, honest, and universal for people who didn't know what those objects were. With this in mind, I set aside my usual illustration approach of textures, hatching, and detail for a clean, more design minded approach.

Some of the objects are actual objects and others are combinations of objects. All the prints in this series use the same four colours and the same screen print set up.
