Queen InnuendoThe Flood Gallery
As he had done with the artwork for 1977’s News Of The World, drummer Roger Taylor found inspiration for the Innuendo cover in some obscure illustrations. Coming across the black-and-white drawings of 19th-century French caricaturist Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard Grandville, Taylor was taken by a piece titled A Juggler Of Universes. Queen photographer and designer Richard Gray adapted the image, giving it colour and replacing a falling star in the original with a falling banana. Fittingly, for the last Queen album released in singer Freddie Mercury’s lifetime, it remains one of the band’s finest album artworks.
